Ray Scott gave football 38 years of his life, first as a player, then an umpire and finally an administrator.  A brilliant full forward, he averaged better than four goals per game.  He led the goal-kicking only twice and three times in a row in 1952-54 he kicked more than 100 goals only to finish second to south Fremantle goal machine Bernie Naylor.  He quickly established himself as a top umpire before a back injury forced him out of the game.

He served on the umpires’ appointment board from 1973-82, was umpires adviser from 1977-79 and was the chairman of the umpires’ appointment board in 1981-82.
